Connect Microsoft Teams to Lin

Guide

Connect Lin to Microsoft Teams for interactive notifications and collaboration. Requires Lin app authorization, organization availability, and bot mention in channels.

📝 Step 1: Add Lin App to Teams Org (Admin)

A Teams admin must make Lin app available. If Lin is in Teams App Store:

  1. 1 Teams Admin: Go to Teams Admin Center.
  2. 2 Navigate 'Teams apps' > 'Manage apps'.
  3. 3 Search 'Lin'.
  4. 4 Select Lin app; ensure 'Allowed'. Check app permission policies.
  5. 5 Admin may need to grant consent if required by org policies.

Note: If app is approved org-wide, individual users may not need admin action, but app must be discoverable.

👤 Step 2: Connect Teams Account in Lin (User)

Once Lin app is available in Teams:

  1. 1 Lin dashboard: 'Platform Connections' > 'Connect New Communication Platform'.
  2. 2 Select 'Microsoft Teams'.
  3. 3 Redirect to Microsoft OAuth. Sign in with work/school account.
  4. 4 Review Lin permissions (read teams, install bot, send/receive messages).
  5. 5 Click 'Accept'.
  6. 6 Redirect to Lin. Bot auto-installs in accessible teams (may take moments).

💬 Step 3: Enable Channel Notifications (User)

After Lin bot is added, initialize in channels for notifications:

  1. 1 Go to desired Teams channel.
  2. 2 Type `@Lin` and send message (e.g., `@Lin hello`) to register channel.
  3. 3 Bot may send confirmation.
  4. 4 Repeat for all notification channels.
  5. 5 Select initialized channels in Lin's 'Project Notification Settings'.

Important: Notifications only sent to channels where `@Lin` mentioned and configured in Lin settings.

📝 Troubleshooting

  • Cannot find/add Lin app? Contact Teams admin for availability.
  • Admin approval error during OAuth? Contact M365/Teams admin for tenant-wide consent.
  • Ensure third-party app integrations & bot mentions allowed by Teams policies.
  • No channel notifications? Verify `@Lin` mention and Lin project settings configuration.
